Assembly Fit
Interfaces de montaje, hole positions, flange orientations and clearances.
From Flat Sheet to Parts That Fit Your Assembly.
Custom brackets, chassis, panels and enclosures manufactured to your drawings—with attention to bend accuracy, mounting interfaces and finished-part dimensions.
GPT Precision provides sheet metal forming and bending services for prototypes and batch production. Our 100 t and 160 t press brakes support bend lengths up to 3,000 mm, subject to material, espesor, geometry and tooling requirements.
Samples and inspection reports are submitted for customer approval before batch production begins.
A formed part must fit its assembly, not simply meet an individual bend angle.
Mounting holes need to align, flanges must clear adjacent components, and the finished geometry must support the intended function.
We review material, espesor, bend geometry, tooling access and critical dimensions together to establish a suitable forming approach.

Where a material substitution or design adjustment is recommended, we discuss the proposed change and obtain your approval before proceeding.
Our forming equipment supports a range of sheet metal components, from small mounting brackets to larger panels and structural sections.

Engineering note: These are confirmed manufacturing capabilities. Their applicability to a particular part depends on material grade, temper, espesor, bend length, geometry, tooling and measurement conditions. Maximum capacity values do not necessarily apply simultaneously.
Project-specific manufacturing and inspection requirements are confirmed during drawing review.
Material grade and condition influence bendability, springback, achievable bend radius and surface appearance.
We work with aluminum alloys, stainless steels, carbon steels, copper and brass. The specified material condition is reviewed together with the finished-part geometry.
| Material | Available Grades | Main Review Points |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminio | 3003, 5052 | Temper, espesor, bend radius and finish |
| Aluminio | 6061 | Temper, bend direction and cracking risk |

Good sheet metal design considers how the part will be formed, assembled and measured—not only its flat pattern.
The following references support initial design review. Here, t represents nominal sheet thickness.
| Feature | Initial Design Reference | Review Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Inside bend radius | R ≥ 1t for suitable materials | Alloy, temper, thickness and bend direction |
| Flange length | ≥ 4t as a starting reference | Die opening, radius and tooling access |
| Hole-to-bend clearance | Initially assess ≥ 2t from hole edge to bend tangent | Hole size, bend geometry and distortion |
| Bend relief width | ≥ 1t as a starting reference | Relief depth, location and adjacent features |
These references are not universal minimum requirements. Final dimensions depend on material condition, forming geometry and the selected tooling.
Identify the datums, mounting holes, locating features, flange heights and clearances that control assembly fit.
Clearly distinguish functionally critical dimensions from features where manufacturing alternatives may be acceptable.
Material recovery after bending can affect the final angle and geometry.
We account for springback during forming setup and verify sample dimensions against the agreed drawing requirements. Adjustments are made where needed before samples are submitted for approval.
Provide the finished-part 3D model and dimensioned drawing. An existing flat pattern can also be included with its revision identified.
Bend allowances and developed dimensions are coordinated with the selected forming process. Short flanges, closely spaced bends and enclosed features are reviewed for tool access and bending sequence.
Welding, inserted hardware, machining and coating can influence final dimensions and appearance.
Identify visible faces, acceptable tooling marks, finishing requirements and surfaces that need protection during manufacturing.

Forming cost depends on more than bend count. Material selection, part size, tooling access, order quantity and secondary operations all influence the manufacturing approach.
| Cost Factor | What We Evaluate |
|---|---|
| Material & espesor | Grado, condición, stock requirements and forming force |
| Part size & geometry | Handling, tooling access and setup complexity |
| Bend count & sequence | Number of operations and part repositioning |
| Tooling requirements | Standard tooling suitability and additional setup needs |
| Order quantity | Muestreo, setup and production volume |
| Secondary operations | Welding, hardware, machining and finishing |
| Inspección | Critical tolerances, verification and documentation |
Include your initial order quantity and expected repeat demand where available.

Identify functionally critical radii on your drawing.
A flange length of approximately four times the sheet thickness is a useful starting reference.
The actual minimum depends on die opening, bend radius, material and nearby geometry. Shorter flanges require individual review.
