Weight & Material Selection
Component weight may influence material selection, particularly for moving assemblies and compact robotic tooling.
Aluminum alloys and engineering plastics may be considered where appropriate. Specify the required material grade, operating conditions and any restrictions on alternatives.
Critical Fits & Alignment
Bearing seats, locating bores, mounting faces and shaft interfaces often require particular attention.
Identify the relevant datums, dimensional tolerances, geometric requirements and surface finishes. Mating-part information helps clarify how critical features relate to the assembly.
Prototypes & Design Revisions
Robotics development may involve multiple drawing revisions before a component reaches repeat production.
Provide the current revision, prototype quantity and anticipated production requirements. Identify changes between versions so the manufacturing and quotation scope reflects the latest approved design.
Inspection & Acceptance
Inspection planning begins with the drawing and the features identified as critical.
Depending on the part, methods may include CMM inspection, optical measurement, dimensional gauges and inspection fixtures. Required records, sampling plans and acceptance criteria should be agreed during quotation.
